Yesterday I went out to do a few errands, and it was so hot I felt smothered by the heat. Can you imagine what those rays can do to our skin? Especially if we choose not to protect ourselves?.
So here are some tips:
Wear sun protective clothing, to keep the sun from tanning, burning, or damaging the skin. One of the most popular kinds of sun protective clothing is a wide-brimmed hat. A hat with a wide brim not only protects the face from the sun, but it can also offer shade to the shoulders and the upper parts of the chest and back.
If this is not your particular style there are more urban options to choose from.
The weather can get relentlessly sunny (especially with summer approaching soon) so you will need simply to protect yourself from sunstroke or overheating.
Remaining popular as before, is the turban. This spells-elegant, chic and a bold lady.
If hats or turbans are still not your choice of fashion, do not forget the scarves. These are not only light, but they can be worn effortlessly and still add glam factor.
But still, Caps, Hats and Baseball Caps are one of the best choices to pull from.
And whenever you do decide to go to the beach, you can never go wrong with a straw hat - no matter the style.
Sidebar: Since the main purpose of wearing a hat, is to prevent overheating of the head and hair drying, it is best to choose hats that are made of natural fabrics . Breathable fabrics such as - linen, silk or cotton.
Another thing to consider, is to wear opaque clothing, so to keep the sun from tanning, burning, or damaging the skin.
For people who easily burn (like myself), most opaque clothing can protect the skin from the sun. While wearing topical sunscreen
can help in terms of reducing sunburn, clothing can be more effective,
especially if you plan to spend a long period of time outside.
The best garments to wear, are those made with natural fibers. As these have been proven to offer optimum blockage against the sun. Sunscreen only protects the skin up to a
certain amount of time outside. Furthermore, during hot weather or
vigorous activity, sunscreen can be diluted or washed away by sweat.
If you have a child/children, try to dress them in sun protective clothing. Babies' and children's skin are especially sensitive to sunlight and can easily burn.
Tip: Whenever wearing sunglasses make sure they are polarized - this will not only protect your eyes from the sun but is also good to wear when driving, to shield your eyes from sun glare.
Have a happy Thurday
