Peacock-iness in a lash

On Tuesday I did a makeup tutorial - Carnival Makeup (watch here), on Jamaica's local television Station: TVJ; where I created a "Peacock" look and also demonstrated how flat back gems can also be tied in to your look.
Started out with a bad hair day, blew my hair out and it looked like an afro gone bad psssht. So I donned my "Naomi". I digress.

I opted not to use glitter but to create a look as that of a peacock lash and used gems and bronzer on the skin. On the upper lid, a strip of  false eyelashes were added and also on the lower lid.
Unfortunately there are numerous factors that can ruin your beautiful look, while you "bruk it dung" the road.
So here are some tips to ensure longevity for your look.
Key Essential - Sunblock, preferably one with coverage of up to SPF30. Also choose one that is no-comedogenic - this means it wont clog your pores where you'll end up in break outs.
Use a Primer - Primers not only provide a smoother base for makeup application, but will maintain your look while you sweat. In the market there are some primers that combat oiliness, thus maintaining your look through sweating.

Attend to your brows - Get your brows tweezed, threaded or waxed. Any of these methods will help to frame your face and either method allow for more definition.

Eyebrow Pencil/Powder -To further define your brows use an eyebrow pencil or powder. The importance of filling in your brows should never be underestimated. Many shy away away from the practice, because the belief is that it may look unnatural. However this is only so if done improperly. When applying a brow pencil, dust a little loose powder over the brows to combat sheen. By doing this, it will not only make the pencil look more natural, but you get a longer wear.
Foundation - Use one that has concealing factor and is waterproof. Cream based foundations are always the right choice to achieve this.

All that Glitz - Rhinestones, glitter or jewels - carnival makeup usually comprises of either or in some cases, most. Baby oil or body gel will give maximum adherence when mixed with body glitter. If you want to avoid all that mess, a stick is easier just ensure blending is done properly - as not to cause streaking.
For gems/rhinestones/jewelery some may come complete with adhesive on the back. If you are not so lucky, there is spirit gum also eyelash adhesive could suffice as well. Make sure to use one that is waterproof.

Tip: Apply glue directly to your skin, then put jewel in place instead of applying to the back of the jewel. For your lashes a waterproof eyelash glue is also best.

Set it - Now that you are dolled up, apply a finishing spray for longer lasting makeup. Simply mist spray over finished look and your ready to go ;).

Tip: If lipstick is your look of choice, you may set it with loose powder. Place a paper towel over your lip and then dust on loose powder.
