First let me apologize for my sporadic postings. Since I have been back to Jamaica I've thrust straight into work (no complaints here!) and on the weekend I was booked to do a bride's makeup up Strawberry Hills. I'm not ashamed to say it was my first time there and was very excited to view the scenery.
My day started off bad! my brother who I had booked to carry me (yes had to pay him), decided the morning of the wedding, to not take my phone calls. Now I'm not one to view obstacles as failures, so I called around and my good friend Sue and her husband Petroy offered to give me a lift. It turned out to be a road trip, as Siggy (Sue's bff and whose SUV we had to borrow - is one who is never short on jokes) and Peyton (Sue's lil boy) was also on the ride. (he was such a trooper).
I was booked for a 2pm wedding and arrived there 1:38, yup I was already on the bride's wrong side. Gratefully when I arrived, even if she was fuming, she didn't show it and boy was I surprised when this ex-model told me she didn't really want too much makeup - just enough for photos, as she advised me she doesn't wear makeup...period. Whew! imagine my relief. So within 10 minutes her makeup was done. Hope my shots are ok as I'm testing out my camera the husband got me. He suggests I start posting my experiences on here. ;)
When I was done, I decided to take pics of some of the property, before we headed to the restaurant.
Strawberry Hill is located in Irish Town - Blue Mountains, nestled over Kingston with views of the surrounding mountains and Kingston Harbour which was just beautiful.
Ummm excuse me isn't that just cozy?
This is a very hilly terrain so if ever you decide to visit, be prepared to walk up and down stairs and steps, ALOT.
Steps leading to the restaurant.
I wish that was a view from my home!
Downstairs the restaurant. The location is exquisite in colonial architecture and decor that instantly transports you to another era.
If you are a music buff, you'll enjoy the photographs all over the walls marking music history.
There was also a fireplace there, which gave a warm cozy feeling. Hmmm imagine how cold one could get up there. Also check out the restaurants awards on the mantle and they seemed to have received a few, from what I had observed.
Just outside the restaurant, is an infinity pool. How nice is that?
One of my favourite colour is black, when in doubt I
always don the onyx look. Wearing black when I go to a job, I dunno just
seems uniformed to me. I especially love my blazers to have the
boyfriend look, kinda like a dinner jacket.
There is never a dull moment with Siggy!
Peace - Love - Soul.
Surrounded by a lush landscape, the wedding was taking place just a few feet away and did not want to intrude. But the view I hear from there is really gorg.
The lil man who can. Peyton did his own thing, was tryna get him to do a pic with me. He really loves the camera...I mean really :).
We then went back to the restaurant balcony to chill a lil after drinks. (Sue and hubby Petroy). By the way that lemonade was the business.
All in all it was a wonderful day! Thanks to Barbara (wedding co-coordinator) for booking me for this wedding, Sue for being a trooper and aid in my time of "crisis", Petroy for shooting some of my pics and definately Siggy without her that trip wouldn't have been possible ;).
Have a Happy Monday!
