GIGILAMODE: Trend alert: Makeup Trends for 2012

The Runway, Editorials and Award shows normally are quite indicative of the trends that will be cemented in a season. Recently while watching the Golden Globes Award Show, it was evident what some of the trends are. As a makeup artist, I have always been a fan of the 'barely there' look, and the Nude face was quite prominent at the Golden Globes - 2012 Award Show.

Charlize Theron

Monochromatic looks were seen all over the runway and the starlets were also seen wearing this look. This look unlike the Nude face, requires a just a hint of colour on either the eyes, cheeks or lips.

Sofia Vergara

Exaggerated blush/flushed cheeks is back, but very subtle so as to to look sunkissed and somewhat burnt. To achieve dewy, sun-splashed cheeks, alot of bronzers in orange, coral and peach, will mimick the effects of the being out in the sun. Athleticism I think definately inspired this look. So if you are a sporty girl — in this case, creating this illusion will prove to be prettier than the real thing.

White and silver metallic eyeshadow, were subtly graced on lids. This look is very much like a moonbeam and is perfect for blending into skin so it seems that it shines from within.

Pastel eyeshadows will make the nude look, burst with vivid colours by opening up the eyes and giving added warmth to the skin. Colours in red, yellow, purple, orange and blue were also seen all over the runway.

Cat eyes are created by a familiar flick of the black liner. This trend has returned to the outer corners of eyes but this time fashioned with inventive, even playful, variations.

Lauren Conrad

Personally for this season I like that some decided to play in the doll house; as I've always found lashes to make one of the perfect accessories. From curled to feathery or precise imitations; these fixed fringes create the look of bold but soft eyes. Dolly lashes are in.
