Hi...my last post was about contouring gone bad, this time I will share tips on how to contour your nose, to get that look you desire.
In general, makeup can be used to help improve the appearance of your facial features by a method known as: Contouring and Highlighting..
As you've seen with the celebrities; sometimes it's all about using the Contour and Highlighting technique, while some are naturally blessed and may have that surgeon on call ;). One of the most popular makeup trick that is done to enhance facial features is contouring of the nose although there many other tricks to correct features that you may be uncomfortable with.
By contouring your nose, this can make a wider nose appear narrower, a long nose appear shorter, or a short nose appear taller etc.— it all depends on the placement. Contouring is also called shading or shadowing, and it’s the process of using a darker color than your skin tone to create 'shadows' as to transform your features and make them more defined. Personally, when I contour my nose, I like making my nose appear a little taller and narrower.
I'm going to make the tips simple along with optical references, so you may practice and be able to do it.
Once you've learn, it should only take you a few minutes to hone the trick.
Let's get started.
N.B Please always note, that images I use for references, are a matter of opinion.

Tip: By extending the corners of your mouth, you give your face more favorable proportions. By doing so: use your lip line/lip brush to extend and then fill it with your gloss etc. but do so with a steady hand. You don't have to consider doing that, that's just one of my my makeup tips I do for my clients ;).

Tip: Keep blush away from the nose.
Short Nose: Down the length of your nose, apply highlighter (lighter colour) this would be from the bridge to the tip of your nose.
Bump on Nose: Apply shader (darker colour) directly unto the bump.
Uneven Nose: To disguise 'flaw', apply the darker shade to the bump, then apply the highlighter (lighter shade) right down the centre of your nose: this can also make your nose look straighter.
Crooked Nose: Wherever the side of the nose goes out (crooked) apply shader (darker shade) to that side, and highlighter (lighter shade) to the side that goes in.
Tip: There are many different products you can use to contour but never use a blush to contour. Blushes are used to add color if you rather using a blush: use a brown blush or there are now sculpting powders available. You could also use a cream colored matte eye shadow to highlight and a pale beige/brown to shade/contour. (depending on your skin tone).
Note that lighter colors highlight and darker colors recede.
Tool: An Angled Brush or Makeup Wedge
Sidebar: The most important thing is to love your features, just the way they are but if you have grasped the hang of this technique you don’t have to contour your nose everyday – just once in a while whenever you think it will complement the look your going for.
Also for MUAS always ask your clients if they would prefer that technique....some may find the technique offensive ;).
Have fun!
